Salads

A salad is exactly the kind of dish that can make an everyday lunch or dinner look festive and different from the day before. Vegetable salads, salads with meat, mushrooms, seafood and fruit, warm salads and cocktail salads – there are so many recipes that you probably can’t try them all in a lifetime!

Researchers believe that such a dish as salad can be safely attributed to one of the most ancient dishes of the global culinary tradition. Recipes for some kinds of salads have come down to us since Ancient Rome. This or that kind of salad differs in the composition of the original ingredients. However, in most cases for the preparation of salads are used ingredients such as: green salad, vegetables, fresh herbs, mushrooms and root vegetables, as well as beans, meat and sausages, fish and seafood.

For any kind of salad use dressing, which can be a sauce, as well as vegetable oil, sour milk products, vinegar and even alcohol. In addition, the salad (dish) is seasoned with various spices, spices, and their mixtures. Salads are often dressed with lemon juice, mayonnaise, mustard, sour cream, olive or vegetable oil and other common salad dressings.

Often, the original salad recipe involves the use of a variety of additional ingredients in the preparation of the dish, through which the finished dish acquires a unique taste. A separate group includes sweet salads (dish). Usually, sweet salads are served for dessert and prepared from different types of fruits, nuts, candied fruits and dried fruits. Sweet salads are dressed with confectionery cream, yogurt, and ice cream.

The main rule for the preparation of salads can be considered the principle of combination of all the constituent ingredients of the dish. Salads are considered to be dietary and light meals. However, this statement may not be true for all types of salads.
